Last year I’ve spent a lot of time reading – blog posts, books, magazines – and watching videos, to learn new staff, but I’ve realised that instead of feeling inspired and driven to action I was often feeling overwhelmed from the hundreds of solutions suggested.
Just to make some examples, we should: be energised and wake up at 6am, leader and kind, efficient and with a lot of time just for ourselves, sporty and able to rest, rational and creative, zen but standing out for our rights.
So I took a break and asked myself: what was not working?
The contents? The authors?
Then I realised: it was not about the topic I was reading about, it was ME!
I was approaching everything as if I could find in it “the solution” that would make me feel great but this just led me to dissatisfaction and disappointment.
Now I try to approach everything with a different perspective: “THE SOLUTION” DOESN’T EXIST, at least not the one that is solving everything at a time.
I keep using my passion and my curiosity to understand if all the new instruments I get in touch with are right for me and if I can use them just “my way”.
So everyday I try to create something I love with all the pieces I have available, knowing that maybe tomorrow I won’t like my creation anymore; making peace with the fact that I will never consider my masterpiece done and being aware that what count the most for me is to enjoy what I’m doing while I do it MY WAY.
TAKE 10 MINUTES AND ASK YOURSELF:
- how much do I question pre-packed solutions someone suggests me?
- what is the small thing I can do to make it more “my way”?
